Semi in Year 11 was probably one of the first times I PROPERLY glammed up. I was quite a tomboy growing up and so yeahhhhh.

Here's a quick rundown of my lookbook aha :)

-Dress was from Xenia Boutique (online) and I got it for like $40

-Earrings and Clutch from Colette

-Shoes were just my mums I borrowed but they were from Novo

-Hair at Agio Hair at Sunnybank Hills Shopping Centre

-Makeup at Mecca Maxima at Garden City

To be completely honest I really did not like my makeup or hair that much. Especially with the makeup I did not know what to expect and my artist was lovely but she really DID NOT know what to do with my asian, monolids eyes. Inside the store it looked okay because of the lighting but golly I looked like a panda. That's why in most photos I'm looking down or to the side.

I was also lucky enough to go to another Semi when I was in Year 11. A good friend of mine invited me to his semi and so essentially I had a second shot at it!

Here's a rundown of this one

-Dress was again from Xenia Boutique but this time it was even cheaper at $30

-Clutch was borrowed from my bestie (I think it was from collete though)

-Earrings from Lovisa

-Shoes were from a small pop up store for like $70 AND THEY BROKE AT THE END OF THE NIGHT SMH

-hair and makeup was done by a korean makeup artist and I was satisfied and happy with the end result

TIPS

Borrowing clutches and other bits and bots from your friends is the best way to save money! Colette and Lovisa have such good accessories for these events but also keep in mind that there might be other smaller stores that have hidden gems too. Spend time searching and being patient.

-sticky bras are such a necessity when Semi and Formal season hit so keep this in mind

-seamless undies too!!!!!!! that way any ugly panty lines won't show ;)

-try your whole outfit combo in advance so you can match up all your accessories

-practice walking in heels! AND GET COMFY ONES HONESTLY!!!!!!!!! heels with like a nice fat platform or have a good supporting strap around the ankle are the most comfortable

-you cannot expect everything to go exactly as planned

-allow PLENTY of travel time and time between your hair and makeup are booked

-try to get an earlier booking, trust me the makeup will last so its better for it to not rushed

MOST OF ALL... HAVE FUN

Have confidence in yourself :D seriously the less you care about how gorgeous others look and and how unhappy you are with yours, the more fun you will have. Dance with strangers if you go to another school's event, talk to different people, just let loose and have fun. It's supposed to be like that xxx
